US Lifts Sanctions on Russian Diesel Sales Through April 2027
The US Treasury has allowed certain transactions involving Russian diesel until April 7, 2027.
This includes selling, delivering, and importing the fuel.
The announcement came after Donald Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin.
Trump said Russia would send more than 300,000 tons right away.
He also described later shipments of 500,000 tons and one million tons.
He said another three million tons could be sent, depending on the condition of Russian refineries.
The reports say diesel prices have risen as supplies tightened.
They cite attacks on refineries and Russia’s diesel export ban as factors.
Trump is also facing pressure to lower fuel prices before the November midterm elections.
The US Treasury authorized transactions involving Russian-origin diesel through 12:01 a.m. EDT on April 7, 2027.
The authorization covers sale, delivery, offloading, and importation, including imports into the United States.
The announcement followed a call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin and a reported agreement to supply diesel to US and global markets.
Trump said shipments would include more than 300,000 tons immediately, 500,000 tons in November, and one million tons afterward.
Trump said up to three million additional tons could follow depending on Russian refinery conditions; reports cite refinery attacks, Russia’s export ban, and rising diesel prices.
