CBI Files Chargesheet in Colonel Assault Case
A colonel in the Indian Army and his son were attacked by off-duty police officers in Punjab.
The fight started over a small parking problem.
The police officers hit the colonel and his son, causing injuries.
The colonel said the police took his ID and phone and threatened him.
People were angry when they saw the video of the attack.
The case was first investigated by the Punjab Police, but the colonel did not trust them.
The court then asked the CBI, a special police agency, to investigate.
The CBI has now filed charges against four police officers.
CBI filed a chargesheet against four Punjab police inspectors for assaulting Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath and his son.
The incident occurred on March 13-14 over a parking dispute, resulting in injuries to the colonel and his son.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court transferred the case to the CBI due to concerns over the impartiality of earlier investigations.
Charges include grievous hurt and wrongful restraint, with the case now proceeding to trial.
The initial Punjab Police response was criticized for bias, with delayed FIR registration and accusations of a cover-up.
