New Toll Rules Encourage Digital Payments on National Highways
The government is changing how tolls are collected on highways to encourage people to use digital payment methods like FASTag or UPI.
If you use cash and don't have a FASTag, you'll pay double the usual toll.
If you pay with UPI, it's 1.25 times the regular toll.
The goal is to make paying tolls easier and faster while reducing traffic jams at toll booths.
This new rule starts in late 2025 and is meant to make highway travel smoother for everyone.
The Central government amended National Highways Fee Rules to encourage digital payments.
Vehicles without FASTag will pay double the fee in cash.
Vehicles with UPI payments pay 1.25 times the standard fee.
The amendment aims to strengthen fee collection and increase transparency.
The new rules will be effective starting November 15, 2025.
