BJP hails 7.8% GDP growth, demands Rahul Gandhi apology

India’s economy grew by 7.8% between April and June, according to the BJP.

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said this showed that the government was managing the economy well.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

He said India grew faster than Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom during the same period.

The BJP said this growth happened despite conflict in West Asia, oil problems and supply-chain disruptions.

Rahul Gandhi had called the Indian economy “dead.”

He had also warned that a large “economic tsunami” could come.

The BJP said those statements were false and irresponsible.

It asked Gandhi to apologize and said his comments could hurt people’s confidence.
