Cyberabad Police to Geo Tag CCTV Cameras

Cyberabad Police to Geo Tag CCTV Cameras

The Cyberabad Police in Hyderabad, India, have decided to geo tag all existing CCTV cameras and upgrade their surveillance systems from DVR to NVR technology.

This initiative, part of the Nenu Saitham program, aims to improve crime prevention and investigations.

The police commissioner, M. Ramesh, directed that all existing cameras be geo tagged and entered into a digital database, and that every new camera installed should be geo tagged immediately.

Each police station will have a dedicated administrator to monitor the CCTV systems.

The upgrade to NVR technology will enable real-time monitoring, faster retrieval of footage, and better evidence collection.

The police are also encouraging residents, educational institutions, industries, and commercial establishments to install quality CCTV cameras and link them with the police network to strengthen public safety.

Geo tagging will help the police quickly identify available footage during investigations and improve surveillance coverage.
