CJP Reviews Centre Assurances, Signals Possible Fresh Nationwide Agitation

The Cockroach Janta Party stopped a nationwide protest on July 25 after saying the government made several promises.

The promises concerned police cases against students and protesters.

They also included protection from punishment for peaceful protesters in the future.

The group says the government has not explained formally what it has done to keep those promises.

It also says the government has not committed to giving the Supreme Court a full list of protest-related cases.

The court requested that list on August 18.

The party will discuss the situation at a meeting on Monday, August 24.

It may decide to organize another peaceful protest if it believes the promises were not kept.
