Delhi Experiences Coldest Night of Season Amidst Approaching Cold Wave
Delhi is getting colder, and it's the chilliest night of the season so far!
On Sunday, the temperature dropped to 11 degrees Celsius, which is much cooler than usual.
This is happening because cold winds are blowing from the snowy mountains, and since the sky is clear, the heat from the ground is escaping quickly into space after the sun goes down.
This makes the nights feel much colder.
Weather experts say this chilly weather will continue for several days in Delhi.
Other parts of northwest and central India are also experiencing this significant drop in temperature, with some areas seeing even colder conditions.
The daytime will be cooler too, with temperatures expected to stay around 27-29 degrees Celsius for the next couple of days.
Delhi experienced its coldest night of the season so far on Sunday, with the minimum temperature hitting 11°C, 3.3 degrees below normal.
Cold wave conditions are signalled by chilly north-westerly winds blowing from the Himalayas.
Clear skies are contributing to the drop in temperature by allowing rapid heat escape after sunset.
Minimum temperatures are expected to drop further, potentially reaching 9°C-11°C on Monday.
Cold wave conditions are also predicted for parts of northwest and central India, with temperatures significantly below normal.
