Hyderabad: Commercial Buildings Demolished to Widen Picket Nala
In Hyderabad, some buildings were built too close to a water drain called Picket Nala, making it smaller and causing flooding.
HYDRAA, a government agency, knocked down these buildings to make the drain wider.
This should help prevent water from overflowing during heavy rains, protecting nearby neighborhoods.
The agency plans to widen the drain and build walls to keep the water in its path.
They are also checking other areas to stop similar problems and promise to help people affected by these demolitions.
HYDRAA demolished commercial buildings encroaching on Picket Nala in Hyderabad.
The nala's width had been reduced from 70 feet to 15-18 feet due to encroachments.
The narrowed drain caused flooding in nearby residential areas during rainfall.
HYDRAA will widen the drain and build retaining walls within 15 days.
Operations are planned to remove structures hindering water flow and prevent future flooding.
