Mumbai Police Seize 157 Illegal E-Cigarettes

Mumbai Crime Branch (Unit 2) raided the 'Light of Persia' restaurant in South Mumbai on January 7, 2025, following a tip-off.
They seized 157 illegal e-cigarettes worth ₹4.71 lakh from the restaurant, which are banned under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.
The accused, Hamid Raza Safar Ali Karimi, a 44-year-old Iranian national, was arrested and an FIR was registered against him.
The police are investigating the supply chain of the illegal e-cigarettes and possible links to foreign suppliers.
The raid was conducted with panch witnesses and all seized items were documented and sealed as per procedure.
