Manipur CM Says Conflict Caused Rs 1,200 Crore GST Loss

Manipur has been affected by a long conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities.

The chief minister said the conflict hurt the state's economy.

He estimated that GST revenue fell by more than Rs 1,200 crore between 2023 and 2026.

Bandhs and blockades made it harder for people and goods to move.

Officials said at least 306 people died and 49 are still missing.

Thousands of people also lost their homes.

The chief minister asked civil society groups not to stop roads and businesses.

He also announced higher journalist pensions and said some transport and advertising services had resumed.
