Students' Hunger Strike Intensifies in Jharkhand as CJP Role Questioned
Students in Jharkhand are very upset and have stopped eating to show it — this is called a hunger strike.
They are angry because the government has not paid them money that helps them study, called scholarships.
They also say their hostels, where students live, are too crowded and not properly maintained.
So the students are sitting outside the education department office to ask for help.
Some students got weak from not eating and had to be taken to a clinic.
Doctors and police are nearby to keep everyone safe.
The students want a group called the Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP, to come and support them in person.
The party's leader says it supports the students and will travel to Jharkhand.
But the students say they have not seen the party showing up, only hearing promises.
The government says it is working on the payments and has asked the students to stop the hunger strike because it is risky for their health.
Student unions from several Jharkhand government colleges are on hunger strike outside the state education department headquarters over delayed scholarships and poor hostel conditions.
The agitation began over the non-disbursement of minority and post-matric scholarships for the current academic year after repeated appeals went unanswered.
Several students showing signs of weakness have been shifted to a nearby medical facility; medical teams and increased police presence are at the protest site.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) faces criticism for lacking visible on-ground engagement in Jharkhand despite its national posture on education issues.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke declared support on Wednesday and said members will travel to Jharkhand, while a sit-in at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium has demanded an independent probe into alleged JPSC recruitment irregularities.
