Naidu Rides RTC Bus to Mark Stree Shakti Anniversary

In a place called Andhra Pradesh, there is a special program called Stree Shakti that lets women ride government buses for free.

The program started on August 15 one year ago, and the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, celebrated its first birthday by riding a bus with some of the women.

Since it started, women have taken about 87 crore bus rides, which is a really, really big number.

Around 24 lakh women use the free bus ride every single day.

Women just need to show an Aadhaar card to travel anywhere in the state.

The government spends about Rs 8.53 crore every day to keep the free rides going.

The program helps women get to school, work, the doctor, and temples without paying.

Some women said they save up to Rs 4,000 every month because of the free rides.

The Chief Minister also served tea to the women and talked with them about their lives and health.
