Tibetans in Kalimpong shave heads to honor activist Lobga Rangzen

Some people from Tibet live in a town called Kalimpong, where they have formed a community.

They are very sad because a man named Lobga Rangzen set himself on fire in front of the United Nations building in New York.

He did this because he was angry about a new law from China, the country that rules Tibet.

The law is called the 'Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law' because China says it wants to bring all ethnic groups together.

Many Tibetans think the law actually forces them to give up their own culture.

In Tibetan, 'Pawo' means martyr, and that is what the community calls Rangzen.

To show honour and support, more than 45 men will shave their heads on Thursday.

Later, on August 20, they will also hold a 24-hour hunger strike, which means they will not eat for a whole day.

They hope the United Nations will listen to them and help protect Tibetan people.
