Disney+ Ad Tier Fuels Overseas Revenue Growth, Offset by Theatrical Dip
Disney, the company that makes movies and TV shows, made more money in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa last year!
This is because they started a new way to watch Disney+ with ads.
People watched popular shows like "Wish" and "Bluey."
Overall, their sales went up, but the movies they showed in theaters didn't do quite as well.
So, while streaming helped a lot, the movie business wasn't as strong.
Disney's EMEA revenue increased 4.4% due to the Disney+ ad tier launch.
Sales in EMEA reached £3.97B ($5.45B) in the year ending September 28, 2024.
Profits in EMEA grew by 3% to £588,898 during the same period.
The ad tier model, launched in November 2023, significantly boosted Disney+ performance.
The growth from Disney+ was partially offset by a small downturn in theatrical performance.
