Karnataka HC Denies Bail to PFI Accused
Shahid Khan, a member of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), was denied bail by the Karnataka High Court.
He is accused of radicalizing Muslim youth and raising funds for terrorist activities.
The court heard his appeal against a lower NIA court’s rejection of his bail plea.
Khan's lawyer argued that the charges under Section 18 of the UAPA were not valid without government sanction and that the seizure of cash from his home was not done properly.
However, the court ruled that procedural lapses do not invalidate the prosecution's case and that there is evidence linking Khan to terror funding.
The court upheld the denial of bail, keeping Khan in custody.
