Actor Sumi Borah Granted Bail in Online Trading Scam
Imagine someone who promised people big money if they invested, but it was all a trick.
Sumi Borah is accused of this.
She was already in jail for one case when the police wanted to arrest her for another.
However, the court said the police didn't follow the correct rules when they arrested her this second time, and so she was allowed to leave jail.
The court stated rules were broken during her arrest.
She still has to go to court for the case, and if she doesn't show up, the police can bring her back.
Sumi Borah, an actor-choreographer, was granted bail by the Gauhati High Court.
The court cited non-compliance with Bharatiya Nagarik Suaksha Sanhita (BNSS) provisions during her arrest.
Borah was in custody for a case registered in Dibrugarh PS when arrested in connection to the Borboruah PS case.
The court ruled that the procedure for arresting someone already in custody was not followed correctly.
The case involves allegations of a multi-crore online trading scam where investors were promised high returns.
