Mumbai Income Tax Department Inducts 97 Sportspersons Under Sports Quota

The Income Tax Department is a government office that collects taxes for India.

In Mumbai, the department also helps talented athletes get jobs.

It hired 97 sportspersons on Wednesday.

These athletes are skilled in sports like cricket, shooting, and yogasana.

Some have played for India's national teams.

More than 8 out of every 10 new inductees have competed at international events.

One inductee, Akash, won a team gold medal at a World Cup for para shooting.

Another inductee, Abhishek, won two gold medals at a world yogasana championship.

Almost 3,600 people applied, but only 97 were selected after careful review.

The new workers received their appointment letters at a ceremony in Mumbai.
