Karanth’s Dream Project in Ruins Again
A special park for children in Puttur town, called Balavana, is in bad shape.
It was made possible by a famous writer who gave land for it.
The park was supposed to be a fun place for kids to learn, but now it's not taken care of.
The play equipment is rusty, and the plants are not watered.
Some people in the town are sad and embarrassed because the park is not safe for children.
Parents still bring their kids there, but it's not a good place to play right now.
Dr. Kota Shivarama Karanth donated 3.5 acres of land in Puttur for a children’s cultural centre.
The Balavana centre is now in a state of disrepair with rusted play equipment and neglected greenery.
Elders in Puttur express embarrassment and concern over the safety risks posed by the neglected park.
The park's condition undermines its purpose as a learning space for children.
Parents continue to bring their children to the park despite the poor maintenance.
