Amazon reshuffles AI leadership with Prasad's exit
Amazon is changing its leaders for the AI team.
Rohit Prasad, who worked on Alexa, is leaving at the end of the year.
Peter DeSantis, who has worked at Amazon for 27 years, will now lead the AI group.
This group also includes teams that work on computer chips and quantum computing.
Pieter Abbeel, who joined Amazon last year, will lead research in this new group.
The change was announced by Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, in a blog post.
Amazon is also investing a lot of money in other AI companies to stay competitive.
This is part of a bigger trend in the tech world where companies are making big changes in their leadership.

Rohit Prasad is exiting the company as part of this change, set to leave by the end of 2025.
The AGI unit now includes silicon development and quantum computing teams, and will oversee Nova AI models, chip programs, and quantum computing initiatives.
DeSantis is a 27-year Amazon veteran, currently serving as SVP in AWS, and has led AWS infrastructure and utility computing businesses.
Pieter Abbeel, who joined Amazon last year, will head up frontier model research within the AGI organization and continue to work on robotics.
