8th Pay Commission Salary Hikes Vary With Fitment Factor

8th Pay Commission Salary Hikes Vary With Fitment Factor

The 8th Central Pay Commission may recommend new salaries for central government workers and pensioners.

It is currently collecting ideas and information from different groups.

A fitment factor is a number used to multiply a worker’s current basic pay.

For example, a factor of 2 would turn ₹18,000 into ₹36,000.

Different groups have suggested different factors.

Some estimates are between 1.83 and 2, while some demands go as high as 3.83.

The final number has not been chosen yet.

The government must approve the commission’s recommendations before they take effect.

The commission is expected to announce its decisions by mid-2027.
