Nine people have died in recent violence in three hill districts of Manipur.

The clashes involved members of Naga and Kuki communities.

The violence began after a woman was shot in Chassad village on Friday night.

More people were killed in separate attacks in other villages and districts.

Ten houses were set on fire during clashes, officials said.

No new incidents were reported on Sunday.

Police and other security forces increased patrols to try to stop more violence.
