Delhi High Court Acquits Man, Discusses Unresolved Marital Conflict

The Delhi High Court considered a case involving Nafe Singh and his wife.

Prosecutors said Singh tried to make his wife swallow Baygon insecticide during a dispute in 2001.

Singh denied the allegations.

A trial court had sentenced him to three years in prison for attempted murder.

The High Court said the evidence was not strong or clear enough to prove the required intention.

It therefore acquitted Singh by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

The court also said marriage can become very unhappy when serious problems are not addressed.

It explained that marital conflict can affect families and sometimes lead to violence.
