Nepal Floods Devastate Galchi Power Station, Threaten Hydropower Workers

A powerful flood hit parts of Nepal on August 26.

The water completely covered a power station in Galchi.

Mud and slush damaged the station’s machines and transformers.

Some broken equipment was carried to the nearby Trishuli River.

Nepal Army personnel are digging through the mud to recover what they can.

Floods also damaged several other hydropower plants.

About 900 workers at different project sites cannot currently be contacted.

Rescue teams from India and China are helping Nepal search for them.
