British Man Fined for Spitting Out Leaf
An 86-year-old British man named Roy Marsh was fined a lot of money for spitting out a leaf that blew into his mouth while he was walking.
He was sitting in a car park when a strong wind blew a reed into his mouth, and he spat it out.
Two enforcement officers saw this and fined him, saying he was spitting on the ground.
Roy Marsh has asthma and a heart condition, and his daughter is upset because she thinks the officers were too harsh and didn't give him a chance to explain.
The fine was later reduced, but Roy Marsh still had to pay it.
Some people think the officers are too strict and pick on older people.
Roy Marsh, 86, was fined Rs 30,337 for spitting out a leaf that blew into his mouth in Lincolnshire, England.
The fine was later reduced to Rs 18,202 on appeal, which he had to pay.
Marsh has asthma and a heart condition, and his daughter criticized the enforcement officers for being rude and not giving him a chance to explain.
Adrian Findley, a county councillor, suggested that enforcement officers should use discretion and give people the opportunity to apologize for accidental spitting.
East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) stated that their patrols are not targeted at any specific demographic and are not discriminatory.
