Goa Club Fire Probe Blames Panchayat, Government Departments

Goa Club Fire Probe Blames Panchayat, Government Departments

A big fire happened at a club in Goa called Birch by Romeo Lane on December 6, and 25 people died.

A report about the fire says the local panchayat is mostly to blame because they didn't stop the club from operating even after their license expired.

The panchayat also didn't act on complaints about the club being in an eco-sensitive zone and not having the right papers.

Some government departments are also being looked at for not paying attention to the rules being broken.

The club has been there since 1996 and used to be restaurants before.

The report says the panchayat didn't do its job for many years.
