Google DeepMind Co-Founder Warns AI Could Replace Many Jobs
Shane Legg, a co-founder of Google DeepMind, talked about how AI might change jobs.
He said if a job can be done using just a laptop, it might be replaced by AI.
This is called the 'Laptop Rule.'
He thinks there's a 50% chance that AI as smart as humans (called AGI) could exist by 2028.
However, some jobs that need a human touch, like influencers, might be harder for AI to replace.
Legg also said that not enough people are thinking about how AGI will affect society, and we need to prepare carefully.
Shane Legg introduced the 'Laptop Rule' to identify jobs at risk of AI replacement.
Jobs done remotely via laptop are likely to be replicable by AI.
Some cognitive jobs with a human aspect may be harder for AI to replace.
Legg predicts a 50% chance of minimal AGI by 2028, with fully developed AGI possibly within a decade.
He emphasizes the need for more people to study the societal impact of AGI.
