Indian Stocks Mixed; Sensex, Nifty Up on Global Cues, Auto Gains; Midcaps, Smallcaps Down
The main stock market scores in India, called Sensex and Nifty, went up a little bit on Thursday morning.
This was because things looked good in other countries, and car companies in India were doing well.
Even though the big scoreboards were up, the smaller scoreboards for medium and small companies actually went down.
Companies also released their second-quarter reports, and they did better than expected.
Some experts think the market might go up a lot if a big court case in the US about trade tariffs goes a certain way, but others are worried that big foreign investors might sell more stocks, which could make prices go down.
Overall, the car and food companies did well, but other areas like metals were not doing as good.
Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened higher on Thursday, supported by positive global markets and gains in automobile stocks.
The Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices traded in the red, contrasting with the performance of the main benchmarks.
India Inc.'s second-quarter FY26 earnings season showed a strong 14% year-on-year earnings increase, with earnings upgrades outnumbering downgrades.
Markets are anticipating the outcome of the US Supreme Court hearing on Donald Trump's tariffs, which could impact volatility and emerging markets.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the previous session, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers for the seventh consecutive session.
