New Book Unearths Banned Literature on Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
Imagine a terrible event happened a long time ago called the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
After this event, many Indian writers wrote poems and plays and shared stories about how sad and angry they were.
But the people in charge back then didn't want anyone to read or hear these stories, so they banned them.
A woman named Rajwanti Mann, who used to work with old documents, found some of these secret writings.
She put them together in a new book called 'Jallianwala Bagh ki Karahein'.
This book is like a treasure chest, bringing back the voices of ordinary people that were almost lost.
It shows what they were feeling and how they remembered the tragedy, even when they were not allowed to speak about it openly.
The book also helps us understand a different side of history, not just the one written by the authorities.
A new book titled 'Jallianwala Bagh ki Karahein' has been released in Chandigarh.
The book compiles banned literary works by local writers documenting the aftermath of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Authored by Rajwanti Mann, a former Haryana Archives Department officer, the book draws from the India Office Records.
It includes poems, plays, and eyewitness accounts, such as Ratan Devi's testimony, capturing the pain and resistance under colonial rule.
The book aims to restore suppressed voices and present a people's history often excluded from official archives.
Mann noted that leading British newspapers only published government-approved updates, suppressing the narratives of ordinary Indians.
