Punjab Sees 48% Drop in Road Accident Deaths
Punjab, a state in India, has seen a big drop in the number of people dying in road accidents.
This happened because of a new group called the Sadak Surakhya Force.
They help people quickly after accidents, give them first aid, and take them to the hospital fast.
Because of this, Punjab is no longer one of the worst states for road accidents.
Other states in India want to copy this idea, and even the Prime Minister talked about it on the radio.
The leader of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, said this is a new way for the whole country to follow to make roads safer.
Punjab has seen a 48% reduction in road accident deaths since the Sadak Surakhya Force was launched in February 2023.
The force provides faster emergency response, immediate first aid, and timely hospital treatment.
Punjab is no longer among the top three states in India for road accident fatalities.
Several other states have shown interest in replicating the Sadak Surakhya Force model.
The Prime Minister mentioned road safety in his Mann Ki Baat radio program, highlighting Punjab's initiative.
