Delhi HC raps Centre over vacancies in National Minorities Commission
The Delhi High Court is upset because there are no leaders or members in the National Commission for Minorities, making it unable to work.
A man named Mujahid Nafees asked the court to tell the government to fill these jobs.
The court wants the government to explain what they have done to fix this problem and how long it will take.
The court said it's important to fill these jobs so the Commission can start working again.
Delhi High Court expressed concern over vacancies in the National Commission for Minorities since 2024.
The Commission is currently non-functional due to vacancies in key positions.
A PIL filed by Mujahid Nafees in October 2023 was taken up by the court.
The court sought an affidavit from the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs detailing steps taken to fill vacancies.
