Shark Tank India Pitcher Criticized
A man named Shubham Upadhyay went on Shark Tank India to ask for money to grow his company, Planyt.
He wanted Rs 1.05 crore for a small part of his company, which he said was worth Rs 16.15 crore.
His company makes a special device to help plants grow, and he said it was made with help from NASA.
The judges, called sharks, were not impressed.
They said his idea was not realistic, especially because his product costs a lot of money and he hasn't sold many.
They also said he was being too optimistic to think his company could end hunger.
Shubham has been running his company since 2021 but hasn't made any money yet.
He also said he has never had a job and has only sold a few units of his product at a discounted price.
The sharks did not invest in his company.
Shubham Upadhyay pitched his plant growth device company, Planyt, on Shark Tank India Season 5.
He sought Rs 1.05 crore for 6.5% equity, valuing his company at Rs 16.15 crore.
The judges criticized his idea, calling it 'delusional' and questioning its feasibility.
Upadhyay claimed his product could help end hunger but admitted it costs Rs 7.5 lakh for a family of five.
His company has been pre-revenue since 2021, with only 80-100 units sold in four years.
