Luxury Car Prices May Drop in India with UK Trade Deal
India and the UK are making a trade deal that could make cars like the Mini Cooper and Aston Martin cheaper in India.
Currently, these cars have high taxes when they are imported.
The new deal will lower these taxes.
For regular cars, the tax could go down from about 70% to between 30% and 50%, which means cars could cost much less.
There will be a limit to how many cars can have the lower taxes.
Electric cars might get even cheaper, or even have no tax, depending on their price.
This change could make luxury cars more affordable for people in India.
India-UK trade agreement may reduce import tariffs on luxury cars.
Tariffs on internal combustion engine (ICE) cars will be cut to 30-50% in the first year.
Quota of 20,000 ICE cars in the first year, reducing to 15,000 after 15 years.
Mini Cooper prices could fall by up to 40% due to tariff reductions.
Aston Martin prices might decrease by around 24%.
