Carlyle Completes Majority Stake Acquisition in Nido Home Finance
Carlyle, a large investment firm, has bought a majority share of Nido Home Finance.
Nido provides home loans to people buying affordable and mid-priced homes.
Carlyle is putting in more than ₹2,000 crore through new money and by buying shares from Edelweiss.
Nido has already received about ₹725 crore of the new money.
The remaining primary investment is expected within 18 months.
Nido’s net worth could nearly triple to around ₹2,300 crore.
Edelweiss will still own about 26% of Nido after the investment is completed.
The companies say the deal will help Nido lend more in rural, semi-urban and emerging markets.
Carlyle-affiliated funds invested more than ₹2,000 crore to acquire a strategic majority stake in Nido Home Finance.
The deal combines about ₹1,450 crore in primary capital with a ₹600 crore purchase of Edelweiss’s 45% stake.
Nido has received approximately ₹725 crore of the primary infusion, with the balance due within 18 months.
Nido’s net worth is expected to nearly triple to about ₹2,300 crore after the full capital infusion.
