Drone Likely From Ukraine Explodes in Bulgaria Near Gas Pipeline

One morning, a flying robot called a drone flew across the border from Romania into Bulgaria.

It blew up close to a big gas pipeline, which is a giant pipe that carries fuel between countries.

Nobody was hurt and no buildings or important equipment were damaged.

The drone crashed in a sunflower field near a village called Kardam, not far from the border.

Bulgaria's leaders looked at the broken pieces and think it was a special kind of decoy drone that Ukraine's army often uses.

They believe it was probably an accident, not an attack on purpose, and Ukraine also said it did not deliberately target Bulgaria.

The drone was so small and flew so low that radars did not see it coming.

Now Bulgaria is adding more guards and better equipment to watch the border and protect important places.

Leaders from many countries will talk about what happened at a NATO meeting next week.
