Naidu Seeks Permanent Solution for Tobacco Farmers

Naidu Seeks Permanent Solution for Tobacco Farmers

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had a meeting with central officials to talk about the problems tobacco farmers in Andhra Pradesh are facing.

He wants the central government to find a permanent solution.

The meeting discussed three ideas to help farmers right away: loans without interest, financial incentives, and a way to make up for low prices.

Naidu said farmers' interests should come first, but buyers' interests should also be considered.

He asked officials to make short, medium, and long-term plans to prevent these problems from happening again.

He also suggested storing tobacco for a year or two so farmers can sell it when prices are better.

After the meeting, union minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar talked to tobacco buyers and asked them to help protect farmers' interests.

They agreed to meet again on Monday to keep talking.
