Ludhiana DISHA Committee Opposes VB-G RAM G Act
The DISHA committee in Ludhiana had a meeting where they all agreed to say no to a new law called the VB-G RAM G Act.
They think this law is bad for poor people and will hurt jobs in villages.
The law wants to change how money is given for a program called MGNREGA, making states pay more.
Punjab is already in a lot of debt, so the committee says they can't afford this change.
They want the government to take back this new law.
Ludhiana DISHA committee unanimously opposed the VB-G RAM G Act.
The act proposes shifting from 100% central funding to a 60:40 Centre-State cost-sharing model for MGNREGA wages.
Punjab's public debt is projected to reach Rs 4.17 lakh crore by March 2026, over 46% of its GDP.
The committee expressed concern about Punjab's weak fiscal position and inability to absorb additional welfare liabilities.
The resolution was passed in a meeting led by Ludhiana MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.
