Congress Leadership Tussle in Karnataka
There is a disagreement within the Congress party in Karnataka about who should be the Chief Minister.
The party president, Mallikarjun Kharge, said that the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, and the Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, will be called to Delhi for talks if needed.
Shivakumar wants to meet with Rahul Gandhi to discuss the situation.
Siddaramaiah has said he will complete his full term, but the final decision is up to the party's high command.
There is also talk about the party's leadership and budget issues after the Sankranti festival.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will be called to Delhi for discussions whenever necessary.
Shivakumar is seeking an appointment with Rahul Gandhi to discuss the political situation in Karnataka and the confusion over the Chief Minister’s post.
Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in completing his full five-year term, but maintained that the final decision rests with the Congress high command.
Shivakumar asserted his chief ministerial ambitions, stating that his hard work has brought him this far in politics.
