Uttar Pradesh Approves SAF Policy to Attract Investment and Jobs
Uttar Pradesh has approved a plan to encourage companies to make sustainable aviation fuel.
This fuel can be made from materials such as farm leftovers and some kinds of waste.
The state hopes the plan will bring investment and create jobs.
It also aims to help make flying less polluting and support energy security.
Companies that invest different amounts will fall into different size categories.
They may qualify for tax, electricity, training and other incentives.
The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency will manage the applications and incentives.
The policy will last five years, unless a new policy replaces it sooner.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Manufacturing Promotion Policy-2026 at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The policy seeks to attract private investment, support aviation-sector decarbonisation, strengthen energy security and create green jobs.
It encourages SAF production from local feedstocks, including agricultural residues, municipal waste and non-edible oilseeds.
Manufacturing units are classified as large, mega or ultra-mega according to capital investment, starting at ₹200 crore.
UPNEDA will oversee applications and financial incentives; the policy is set to remain in force for five years or until a replacement takes effect.
