Bombay High Court Questions Maharashtra's Quota Rule for Minority Schools
The Bombay High Court is looking into a rule the Maharashtra government made about how minority schools choose students for 11th grade.
The rule says these schools must follow certain quotas.
But, some schools say they don't have to.
The court is now asking the government if they'll fix their rule or get rid of it, pointing out they made a similar mistake before and had to change it.
Bombay High Court questioned Maharashtra government's GR on minority institute admissions.
The GR directed minority institutions to implement social and constitutional reservations.
Petitions challenged the GR, citing Article 15(5) and Article 30(1) of the Constitution.
The court asked the government if they would issue a corrigendum or withdraw the clause.
The court noted a similar GR was withdrawn in 2019 after being challenged.
