Japan’s India Investment Pledge Could Arrive Three Years Early

Japan promised to invest a very large amount of money in India over 10 years.

Japanese companies have already invested more than Rs 1 lakh crore in the first 10 months.

Piyush Goyal believes the full promise could be completed in three to four years.

India wants the number of Japanese companies operating there to double.

Goyal encouraged Japanese businesses to invest in manufacturing, finance, insurance and pension funds.

He also suggested ways for startups, universities and technology companies in both countries to work together.

A pitching program has connected 65 Indian startups with about 100 Japanese companies.

India now has 2.5 lakh startups, including more than 130 unicorns.
