Circus at Park Circus Maidan Faces Legal Challenge
Some people who walk in the morning in Kolkata are upset because the city allowed a circus to set up at Park Circus Maidan.
They think it will cause traffic jams and pollution.
They went to the high court to challenge this decision.
The circus, called Ajanta Circus, has already started showing performances.
The court asked the people who are upset to come back with more details about what they want.
The circus owner says he followed all the rules and got permission.
He also says that circus is a dying art, and many people lost their jobs when they couldn't perform at Park Circus Maidan.
The court will hear the case on Wednesday.
A public interest litigation challenges the Kolkata Municipal Corporation's decision to allow Ajanta Circus at Park Circus Maidan.
The Calcutta High Court asked petitioners to submit an affidavit and will hear the case on Wednesday.
Ajanta Circus started shows on December 8 with over 100 performers from various countries.
Petitioners argue that the circus will cause traffic congestion, air pollution, and destroy green cover.
The circus owner claims he followed all regulations and fears the circus industry is dying without venues like Park Circus Maidan.
