World Lung Day: Rise in Respiratory Infections Amidst Monsoons
It's World Lung Day!
Doctors are seeing more people with coughs and other breathing problems, especially during the monsoon season.
These illnesses include things like the flu, RSV, and others.
A big problem is a dry cough that can last for weeks.
Doctors suggest that to stay healthy, we should wash our hands, avoid crowded places, and make sure our homes are clean.
It's important to keep our lungs healthy by avoiding things that pollute the air, like smoke, and instead use indoor plants to clean it.
Remember, our lungs help us breathe by taking in air and giving our body oxygen!
There is a surge in respiratory tract infections, particularly with persistent dry coughs.
Influenza A (H3N2), RSV, and sporadic cases of H1N1 (swine flu) are present.
Over 30 documented cases of H3N2 were found in the elderly population.
Pune recorded over 100 H3N2 infections and over 50 A(H1N1) cases mid-September.
Doctors also observed a rise in RSV cases, especially among children.
