Satya Niketan Collapse Puts Student Housing Safety On Poll Agenda

Satya Niketan Collapse Puts Student Housing Safety On Poll Agenda

A student housing building in Satya Niketan collapsed while it was being repaired.

Twelve people were pulled from the rubble, but seven died.

Many Delhi University students live in crowded paying guest buildings nearby.

Students worry that narrow lanes could make it difficult for ambulances or firefighters to reach them.

They also said some buildings may have been changed without proper approvals.

The students do not blame DUSU or other unions for the collapse.

However, they want student leaders to help find safer places to live.

They want accommodation safety to become an issue in the upcoming student elections.
