Mizoram CM Inaugurates Areca Nut Unit
The Chief Minister of Mizoram opened a new place to process areca nuts.
This is to help farmers in the state who grow these nuts.
The government has been stopping people from smuggling areca nuts, which helps local farmers sell their nuts for better prices.
The Chief Minister said more processing places will open next year.
A company called SSB Agro is running this new processing unit and has made an agreement to buy nuts from a cooperative society in Mizoram.
This will help the local farming community.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated a new areca nut processing unit in Kolasib district.
The facility is operated by SSB Agro and aims to support the state's agricultural sector.
The state has around 30,000 hectares dedicated to areca nut cultivation.
The government's crackdown on areca nut smuggling has improved market outcomes for local growers.
Additional state-run processing units are expected to be operational next year in Chemphai and Zamuang.
