Andhra CM Orders Water Measures for Visakhapatnam’s Future Needs
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wants Visakhapatnam to have a more reliable water supply.
He asked officials to work quickly on both drinking water and industrial water needs.
He also wants regular water releases from reservoirs to areas managed by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
A canal from the Polavaram Left Main Canal to the Kanithi Balancing Reservoir should be completed faster.
Officials must create a long-term plan for water use across the state.
The plan will include drinking water, farming, industry and several water projects.
Naidu said Polavaram-related work should be finished by March next year.
He also encouraged public education about saving water and recharging groundwater.

Officials were directed to ensure regular reservoir water supplies to areas under the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
Naidu ordered expedited water delivery through the canal linking the Polavaram Left Main Canal to the Kanithi Balancing Reservoir.
Officials must prepare a comprehensive water management plan covering drinking water, irrigation and industrial needs.
Naidu directed officials to complete Polavaram-related works, including rehabilitation, resettlement and land acquisition, by March next year.
