British Army Honors Caribbean WW1 Veterans' Families in London
The British Army held a ceremony in London to give medals to the families of two WW1 soldiers from the Caribbean.
The medals were handed over by the veterans minister, Calvin Bailey.
Actor Winston Duke, who is a grandson of one of the soldiers, said the medals show how the Caribbean helped Britain.
The ceremony was the last part of a program called Op Reflect that took people to WW1 sites in France and Belgium.
The program also honored soldiers from South Asia, Africa, and China.
The Army plans to keep doing similar projects until 2027, including a book about Commonwealth soldiers in WWII.
Descendants of Private Stanley Pantin (Tobago) and Banwood Felix (Grenada) received WW1 service medals at the National Army Museum.
Actor Winston Duke attended, emphasizing the Caribbean contribution to British history.
The ceremony marked the end of the Op Reflect Global Chapter, a program that toured WW1 sites in France and Belgium.
The tour honored soldiers from South Asia, West Indies, Africa, and China, visiting memorials such as Neuve-Chapelle and Lijssenthoek.
The British Army will continue Op Reflect projects through 2027, including a book on Commonwealth contributions to WWII.
