Honda's New V3 Engine: Sounds, Tech, and Fuel Efficiency
Honda is making a new motorcycle engine called the V3.
This engine has a special part called an electric compressor.
It's like a supercharger, but powered by electricity.
Honda showed a video of the engine, and you can hear a unique sound from it, a mix of a raspy note and a baritone.
This engine is designed to be compact, and will allow 750-800cc engines to perform like 1000cc engines.
It's expected to be better for fuel and less polluting.
The new engine is in the testing stage with a lot of hours of running.
The new V3 engine is expected to be shown at a show in Italy.
Honda unveiled its new V3 engine at EICMA in November 2024.
The water-cooled 75-degree V3 motor is being developed for upcoming larger displacement motorcycles.
The engine features an electric compressor, a first for a two-wheeler ICE engine.
The engine's exhaust note is described as an uneven tone and firing order characteristic of V-type engines.
A production version of the V3 engine is expected to be revealed at EICMA in Milan, Italy this November.
