Adani Airports Raises $1 Billion, Eyes Global Top Three
Adani Airports runs several airports in India.
It plans to receive about $1 billion from a group of investors.
In return, the investors will own about 5.54% of the company after three payments are completed.
The investment values the company at about $18 billion before the money arrives and about $19 billion afterward.
Analysts say this could make Adani Airports the world’s third-most valuable major airport operator by valuation.
However, this comparison is not perfectly equal because some other operators are publicly traded and Adani Airports is privately held.
The money will be used to improve airports and build businesses connected to them.
Adani also plans mixed-use airport-city developments and wants to serve about 200 million passengers each year.
The final payment is expected by July 2027.
Adani Airport Holdings agreed to raise ₹9,825 crore, or about $1 billion, from Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and BlackRock-managed funds.
The transaction values the company at $18 billion before investment and an implied $19 billion after investment.
The investors will receive newly issued shares in three tranches and collectively hold approximately 5.54% after completion, with the final tranche expected by July 2027.
Analysts say the valuation places Adani Airports around third among major airport operators, behind Aena and Airports of Thailand, though comparisons are not strictly like-for-like.
The funds will support airport expansion, modernisation, airport-city projects, ground handling and passenger services, with planned capacity of about 200 million passengers annually.

Valuation Supports Global Top-Three Ranking

Global valuation ranking
Valuation Supports Global Top-Three Ranking
Analysts say AAHL’s implied post-money valuation of about $19 billion places it around third among major airport operators, behind Aena and Airports of Thailand.
Analysts Urge Like-for-Like Caution
The comparison is not strictly equivalent because Aena and Airports of Thailand are publicly traded, while AAHL is privately held within Adani Enterprises; public valuations also change with share prices.
Airport scale
Valuation Supports Global Top-Three Ranking
Adani Airports is India’s largest airport operator by number of airports, handles roughly a quarter of India’s passenger traffic and about a third of its air-cargo volumes.
Analysts Urge Like-for-Like Caution
GMR handles larger passenger volumes, so the number of airports operated does not necessarily indicate greater passenger scale.
