Saudi Stocks Drop Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Gold Decline
Saudi stocks had a big drop on Sunday, the most in almost ten months.
This happened because of worries about possible fights between the US, Iran, and Israel, and because the price of gold and other metals fell a lot.
Companies that mine and make materials, like Saudi Arabian Mining Co., were hit the hardest.
Even though it was a bad day for Saudi stocks, other countries in the area, like Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, saw their stocks go up.
Experts say the drop makes sense because of the worries about war and because people were selling stocks after a good month in January.
Also, starting February 1st, people who aren't from Saudi Arabia can now invest in Saudi stocks more easily, which could be a good thing for the market in the long run.
Saudi Arabian equities dropped 1.9% on Sunday, the biggest decline since April 2023.
Materials producers, including Saudi Arabian Mining Co., led the declines due to a global metals selloff.
Geopolitical tensions, including potential US strikes on Iran, contributed to the market downturn.
Gold prices experienced their biggest slide in four decades on Friday, impacting mining shares.
Non-Saudis can now invest directly in Saudi Arabian stocks starting February 1st, ending years of limited access.
