Assam Launches Prerona Scheme for HSLC Students
The Assam government has started a new program called Prerona to help students who are taking their HSLC (matric) exams.
From November, these students will get ₹300 every month for four months.
This money is to help them buy books, food, and other things they need for their studies.
The government hopes this will make students feel more confident, stay in school, and do better in their exams.
The chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said this is part of their efforts to keep students hopeful and motivated.
They are also thinking about giving bicycles to younger students to help them get to school more easily.

Scheme aims to support 4.46 lakh students appearing for exams in February 2025.
